How to Become a Radiographer
Our Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology program teaches students to safely utilize X-rays to perform diagnostic imaging procedures using state-of-the-art equipment. Radiographers use professional and ethical judgment along with critical thinking when performing their duties. Typically, 100% of students pass the ARRT licensure exam on their first attempt, and more than 90% of students are employed in full-time positions. Most of them take positions with Atrium Health upon graduation. Graduates will enter a job market that's in high demand for radiographers!

Earn an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology

Curriculum
This five-semester program includes 72 credit hours. Students will have a variety of radiography courses such as Applied Radiography, Imaging and Radiation Physics. Tuition and Fees
Loan Forgiveness
Atrium Health offers a loan agreement available to finance up to $10,000 for students enrolled in the Radiologic Technology program. This loan defers payment on principal and interest, and if the graduate becomes employed full-time by an eligible Atrium Health facility, a work forgiveness option is available. Questions? Application Requirements
- Application – Submit a complete application by the deadline.
- High School Transcripts – A minimum 2.5 weighted high school GPA is required.
- College Transcripts (if applicable) – A minimum 2.5 cumulative college GPA is required.
- SAT or ACT Test Scores – A minimum 900 on the SAT or 19 on the ACT is required. The college utilizes only the critical reading and math portions when calculating the SAT score.

Originally interested in becoming a nurse, Nicole decided that radiologic technology was ultimately the career for her. As a first step, she enrolled in the college's General Studies program and loved the experience.

Information on Accreditation
The Radiologic Technology program is accredited by the Joint Review Commission on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). The program received an 8-year accreditation during its last site visit in 2015. Graduates are awarded an associate of applied science degree and are eligible to take the National Registry Exam given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Non-Degree Courses
CT (Computed Tomography) Courses
CTT 101: Computed Tomography 101 is a theory class designed for the ARRT registered Radiologic Technologist to advance their knowledge and skill within the modality of computed tomography. The didactic component of the class focuses on CT physics principles, CT equipment, CT-specific procedures, image acquisition, processing & reconstruction, image quality and cross-sectional anatomy. Patient safety concerns are addressed throughout the course as it relates to radiation safety, contrast issues and an overall emphasis on patient care. The class introduces students to advanced CT procedures, such as CT-guided biopsies, brain perfusions, and CT cardiac studies. The class briefly discusses the future advancements of CT technology.
CTT 102: Computed Tomography 102 is a practicum class designed for the ARRT registered Radiologic Technologist to advance their knowledge and skill within the modality of computed tomography. Clinical emphasis will continue to develop and demonstrate competency in the performance of CT procedures and patient care skills. Patient safety concerns are addressed throughout the class as it relates to radiation safety, contrast issues and an overall emphasis on patient care.

Mammography
The Mammography curriculum provides registered radiologic technologists who are in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) the didactic and clinical experience necessary to become registered mammographers. The online coursework in MAM 101 includes breast anatomy and physiology, patient education and preparation, mammographic procedures, interventional procedures, image analysis, mammographic instrumentation, physics, quality control and quality assurance. MAM 102 provides hands-on training with clinical rotation in mammography facilities.
Successful completion of both MAM 101 and MAM 102 signifies the individual has met the Mammography Quality Standards Act initial training requirements for mammography and is eligible to apply to take the ARRT post primary certification in Mammography.
