Student Catalog Rights
The following are Los Angeles Community College Commune Lath of Trustees rules that govern what degrees and certificates a student may earn during their educational career at Los Angeles Pierce Higher.
More often than not, the student's curriculum during their educational career is adamant by the Full general Itemize that corresponds to their enrollment year. For instance, if a student enrolls for the Autumn 2017 semester, they would utilise the 2016-17 Full general Itemize to determine their current curriculum and requirements to graduate and/or transfer.
■6201.13 Competency Requirement.
Students must satisfy the requirements for meeting competency in written expression and mathematics. Through the collegial consultation process, the Chancellor, interim on behalf of the Board of Trustees, shall rely primarily upon the recommendation of the District Academic Senate, to establish procedures for determining competency.
■6203. Catalog Rights.
For these purposes, a catalog year is divers as beginning with the autumn semester through the subsequent summer. A student remaining in continuous attendance in the Los Angeles Community College District may elect to satisfy the degree, document or graduation requirements in event at the higher from which the student will either earn his/her degree, certificate or graduate:
- at the time the student began such attendance at the college, or
- at the time all graduation requirements are met, or
- whatever intervening itemize term between the time the pupil began continuous omnipresence and the fourth dimension all graduation requirements were met.
For the purposes of implementing this policy, the college may develop a policy to:
- qualify or require substitutions for discontinued courses; or
- crave a student irresolute his/her major to complete the major requirements in event at the time of the alter.
A student who no longer maintains catalog rights may utilize to be awarded a certificate or degree that was completed while southward/he maintained catalog rights. In such a case, it shall be awarded retroactively in the last term of the catamenia in which the student maintained those rights in which the document or degree requirements were completed.
The higher's policy shall be developed in consultation with the college Academic Senate in accordance with the provisions of Affiliate XVIII of the Board Rules - ACADEMIC SENATE AND THE Lath OF TRUSTEES SHARED GOVERNANCE POLICY, and published in all higher catalogs under appropriate headings.
This policy does not utilise to college programs which are governed or regulated by outside government agencies or which require licensure or certification through one of these agencies.
■6204. Continous Omnipresence.
"Continuous omnipresence" means no more than 1 semester absence within a school twelvemonth, excluding Summer Sessions and Winter Intersession.
Students granted a "military withdrawal" or a grade of "EW" nether the provisions of Board Rule 6700, will be considered to be in "continuous omnipresence" for their required menstruum of military machine service or excused withdrawal.

Veterans' Counseling
The veterans counselors in the Pierce Counseling Office work in partnership with the personnel in the Fiscal Aid/Veterans/Scholarship Office (Veterans Office) to ensure that you are making progress toward your academic goal in a manner that satisfies the requirements of the VA then that you lot receive your benefits in a timely manner.
To make your transition to Pierce College, nosotros recommend you follow these steps:
